One Room Challenge - Week 3

I can't believe we are already into Week 3 in our Better Homes and Garden's One Room Challenge! It has been so much fun to really focus on the girls' bathroom and put together the details - my favorite part!!

All of the elements have really been coming together! As I mentioned before, this Jack & Jill bathroom is what sealed the deal for me when we first walked through our home. Something about this maze of a house of ours and the girls' bedrooms adjoining this way just pulled at my heart strings and I could feel all the magic.

When I sat down to plan out where I wanted to take this space, I knew I wanted it to be girly, whimsical, & just feel like their private place to sneak through, have talks about life (90210 anyone?), and fight over mirror space well into their teenage years.

There is just something about Homco (birds & flowers in the first picture - and flowers and butterflies in the girls' rooms since they were babies) that ALWAYS works for me. I was able to grab a few pretty pieces off of Etsy and then these metal light fixtures for $2 a piece - a couple coats of gold spray paint and they worked perfectly with the rest of the decor and just take everything up a level!

I got the wallpaper down, scraped away some glue, sanded the walls. washed them with TSP, and did a little dry wall repair. Then we coated the walls with Zinsser Gardz and added the lovely Sherwin Williams 'Romance'. We will grab some better photos when we have a bit more natural light, but late nights after the kids are asleep don't provide near enough of that:)

One last thing, I have told you all before that the original owner of our home was an artist - so we were able to grab several of her paintings when we attended the estate sale (and were given a beautiful framed one by her very sweet daughter when we met her at the house one day!).

I have tried to work in as many of these into our space as I can. They just fill the rooms with warmth and make my heart so happy. My middle daughter's room was once her art studio - and I just love the idea of preserving the memories of this home and all of the beauty and creativity that has lived within these walls.

Little reminder of our before shots:

Next week we are lifting the rest of the blue vanity top out, painting the vanity cupboard "Jay Blue" by Sherwin Williams and starting to add in the new hardware, light fixture, and a new gold faucet! It is so much fun to have a deadline!
